Siobhan O'Donnell
Siobhan is a humanistic and integrative practitioner trained in mindfulness-based psychotherapy with the Karuna Institute, UK. Mindfulness-based psychotherapy offers a space to slow down one-to-one, gently working to uncover patterns and beliefs that may no longer serve you. The therapeutic relationship creates a safe place to explore feelings about ourselves, our lives and our relationships and to reconnect with what feels authentic. At the heart of Siobhan’s work is a belief in the essential health in every human being and the possibility of transformation through awareness. She is interested in the impact of early relationships, neurodiversity, and embodied experience. Siobhan has worked with people from diverse backgrounds and across the life-span in the charity and community sector, and is also trained as an art therapist. Siobhan is an experienced art therapist having worked for twenty years in the education system, and in community organisations with diverse communities. Since 2018, she has been in private practice, offering art therapy to adults, children and young people.
She currently provides therapeutic support to children and families at Barnardos Children’s Bereavement Service.
Siobhan has a particular interest in attachment and relational trauma and the ongoing impact of early experiences on adult life, which developed particularly through her work in supporting children with complex needs over the years. The content of the sessions evolves differently with every individual. The encouragement is to stay open and be curious as we engage in a process of exploration. This may include exploring life circumstances, thoughts, and feelings; being present in the moment in relationship; developing awareness of embodied experience; and sometimes offering art and creative expression. Siobhan is familiar with art process and somatic practice and can guide you through these experiences.
The training body for Core Process Psychotherapy is the Karuna Institute in the UK, which has been in existence for thirty years and was one of the earliest mindfulness-based trainings for psychotherapy. The Karuna Institute is a member of the Humanistic and Integrative College of UKCP, the UK regulatory body. Siobhan works within the ethos of UKCP and is in professional supervision. Siobhan is a professional member of the Irish Association for Creative Arts Therapists.

Her own mindfulness practice supports the intention of providing a safe space where whatever arises can be met with acceptance and compassion. The initial consultation session is free of charge and gives you an opportunity to ask questions and see whether this approach feels helpful for you. Enquiries are welcome; please get in touch if you would like to discuss further.
